SENA EKEN SCHIEBER ECONOMICS AWARD

Sena Eken Schieber, born in Istanbul in 1949, was a pioneering Turkish economist. After studying at Robert College and earning her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pittsburgh, she had a distinguished career at the IMF, becoming its highest-ranking Turkish national. She also advised Türkiye’s Central Bank. Known for her intellect and warmth, she authored influential publications, including Türkiye 2000–2010. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a passionate photographer and active in many cultural and social pursuits.

The Üçok Family Scholarship Fund, founded by Hikmet and Marilyn Üçok, supports young women from Türkiye in pursuing secondary education in the U.S., especially in health sciences and special education. TPF ENDORSED SCHOLARS

TPF Endorsed Scholars are students who are nominated and financially supported by individual donors or donor networks, and formally reviewed and approved by the TPF Scholarship Committee. This scholarship is not open for direct application; candidates are identified through nomination. It offers merit- and need-based educational support to students who demonstrate academic excellence and strong skills.
