SENA EKEN SCHIEBER ECONOMICS AWARD

Sena Eken Schieber, born in Istanbul in 1949, was a pioneering Turkish economist. After studying at Robert College and earning her Ph.D. in economics from the University of Pittsburgh, she had a distinguished career at the IMF, becoming its highest-ranking Turkish national. She also advised Türkiye’s Central Bank. Known for her intellect and warmth, she authored influential publications, including Türkiye 2000–2010. Beyond her professional achievements, she was a passionate photographer and active in many cultural and social pursuits.
