Seval Gulen Arikan was born in Istanbul, Turkiye in 1985. She graduated from the Department of Sociology at Middle East Technical University in Ankara, Turkiye. She completed her master’s thesis in the program of Modern Turkish History at Ataturk Institute at Bogazici University in Istanbul. She worked as a research assistant in the Department of Sociology at Maltepe University and Ataturk Institute at Bogazici University. Besides her academic work, she worked as a researcher, evaluator, and coordinator in various research projects on local politics, social structure and religion, agriculture, and improving working conditions in Turkiye. Since 2014, she has also been working as a volunteer as well as a chair member at NGOs in Turkiye working on youth, gender, and human rights. She worked as a coordinator general at the Karakutu Association for 4 years.
