Earthquakes leave psychological scars that are often overlooked in the immediate rush to provide basic needs. As TPF, our strategy includes addressing these invisible scars.
After earthquakes, it’s often hard to find hope. Team sports like basketball play an important role in rebuilding community ties. They provide a form of therapy, helping children and everyone else in the community to cope with trauma and regain a sense of normalcy, enabling them to look beyond the immediate despair.
Watch our video about Basketkoy above. The court in the village has become a sanctuary of hope, a place where children can be children again, able to dream of a brighter, more secure future.
Together, with every pass, every dribble, every cheer, these children are not just playing a game, they’re rebuilding their spirit, learning new skills that will help them navigate their futures, and more importantly rediscovering joy.
Here’s to the resilient children, our dedicated partners on the ground, and to you, for championing the renewal of hope, dreams, and futures.
