These are difficult and challenging times for all of us, and your health, safety, and well-being are what matter most. We hope that you and your loved ones are healthy and safe. We are thinking about you and remain so very grateful that you are part of our Turkish Philanthropy Funds community.
We have been carefully monitoring recommendations from government officials, public health officials, engaging in conversations with local and national foundations, and working to better understand the implications of this moment for our community, mission, and the organizations we support. That process is ongoing, but we want to make sure you are informed of the steps we are taking to respond to COVID-19. Our main focus right now is to stay fully responsive to donor and community needs.
Business Continuity with Remote Workforce
Effective 03/13, all of our staff moved to remote work. While we are working remotely, we recognize that the ability to work from home is a privilege and are incredibly grateful to everyone who must continue to go to work to make sure the rest of us are taken care of. All normal operations of the foundation are continuing to ensure gifts are received and grants are made. You may still contact TPF staff by email and phone. If we cannot take your call we will get back to you as quickly as possible. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to any of us with questions and concerns. You will see our names, phone numbers and emails below.
Market Update
The last few weeks have disrupted the financial markets. Uncertainty continues to persist due to the COVID-19 outbreak and its effect on investments across the globe. TPF believes that, while the current condition is unsettling, there is no cause for long term investors to panic. Our investment portfolios are built with a long term view, and our investment strategies are designed to withstand and recover from extreme volatility over time, lessening the long term impact of short term fluctuations. Our Investment Committee is diligently monitoring the markets, constantly communicating with our investment consultants and making necessary adjustments when needed. Please contact Senay Ataselim-Yilmaz, our COO & CFO ([email protected]) with any questions.
Local and Overseas Giving
This situation is fluid and will continue to impact our communities in evolving ways. Yet, we take comfort in knowing that we have incredible people like you in the world who are compassionate, resilient, and who consistently give back. Beyond our assurances that TPF business operations will continue as normal during this period, we urge you to be mindful of the essential role that nonprofit organizations play in bringing our community together and in serving the most vulnerable among us. These organizations are experiencing both heightened demands for services and dramatically diminished resources both here in the US and in Turkey. We hope that you will continue to depend on Turkish Philanthropy Funds as your philanthropic partner and will continue to be generous to the organizations that are close to your hearts, as the charitable sector will need it. Those of us with the capacity to support nonprofits right now are the frontline against the loss of those essential services and resources. Please give generously.
Thank you for your support and patience as we address this unprecedented global pandemic. We will be sending more updates in the coming weeks. On behalf of our Board of Directors and staff, take good care.
With gratitude,
Team TPF
