DISASTER RELIEF

THE CHALLENGE

In Türkiye, natural disasters continue to disrupt lives and communities, often with long-lasting effects. The country ranks among the world’s most disaster-prone regions, with over 95% of its landmass susceptible to earthquakes and a growing risk from climate-driven events such as extreme heat, drought, and flash floods. In the past decade alone, disasters have affected millions, caused tens of billions of dollars in damages, and displaced countless families. The human toll is equally staggering: beyond the immediate loss of life, disasters disrupt education, destroy livelihoods, strain healthcare systems, and exacerbate mental health challenges—particularly among children and vulnerable groups. Recovery is often slow and uneven, with rural and low-income areas facing the steepest climb back to stability. These realities underscore the urgent need for coordinated, long-term strategies that go beyond emergency response to foster resilience, preparedness, and equitable recovery for all. At TPF, we prioritize both immediate relief and sustainable recovery. By partnering with local organizations, we deliver emergency support while also investing in rebuilding efforts that strengthen resilience and prepare communities for future disasters.
