Thank you for volunteering to highlight TPF at your company’s annual giving drive! Here are some tips to help you create a successful campaign in your workplace.

Set your fundraising goal. A goal is an important tool to help your supporters rally around your cause, and it will help keep you focused as you begin putting your fundraising plan in action. Don’t forget, it doesn’t matter how much money you raise. Your efforts, big or small, will make a difference. But, be ambitious – you’ll be surprised at how easy it is!

Know the facts. Read the background materials carefully. We have many online/printed materials to help you introduce TPF. The more you know about TPF, the easier your job will be.

Make personal contact. People give to people. Hold rallies or speak to employees face to face.

Be positive. Explain the benefits of giving to TPF. Stress the importance of each person’s contribution to our community. Emphasize that funds are urgently needed for programs that will improve the community for all people.

Ask co-workers you know first. Approaching people you know will help you be more relaxed and comfortable as you refine your presentation skills.

Be prepared for questions and concerns. People deserve to know that their money is invested wisely. Let them know where their money goes. If you cannot find an answer, please reach out.  We’re here to help our champion.

Make a donation yourself. Ever notice that tip jars are never empty? Believe it or not, one of the most effective ways to get others to support you is make the first gift yourself. People are more-likely to give if there’s already some money in the kettle. Inspire your colleagues to join you with your commitment and leadership.

Promote the ease of payroll giving. Employees sign a pledge form once and through payroll giving it works year round.

Remind them of company matching. The more people give, the more their impact will be doubled and you’ll celebrate!

Say “Thank You” and successfully wrap up your campaign. It’s essential to thank your donors and let them know when you have reached your fundraising goal.  Giving to TPF should make people feel good about caring. When their generosity is acknowledged they feel even better.  Send a letter announcing the success of the campaign, place a banner in a visible spot showing total dollar raised, plan a victory celebration to socialize and announce the final results and post your success on Facebook, Twitter and Linked In. Share with TPF and we will Tweet too!
