Impact Areas
“Apart from the ballot box, philanthropy presents the one opportunity the individual has to express his meaningful choice over the direction in which our society will progress.” George G. KirsteinAt TPF we believe that the need for individuals to work together in addressing social needs of their communities is growing more than ever. We support projects that:
- Have the potential to expand beyond their current boundaries,
- Are financially reliable and accountable,
- Will create long-lasting change to social problems,
- Have a variety of funding sources and use our support as a leverage to obtain others,
- Are community-oriented; and
- Empower people.
The following areas of need have been compiled based on the United Nations (UN) Millennium Development Goals and basic human rights, such as the rights to health, education, shelter and security, and modified to apply to the case of Turkey. We focus on these broader efforts in order to serve the greatest number of people and have long-term impact. These issue areas are: Education, Livelihoods, Environmental Sustainability,Civil Society Development, Health, Women's Empowerment and Arts&Culture.
Every year the board identifies 3 or 4 areas to support. See what these areas are in 2008.
Besides these areas we identified as pressing needs in Turkey, named fund donors can also support an area of their interests.
