Organization: Turk Kadinlar Birligi Trabzon Subesi  

The Impact: Strengthening the role of women in the workforce and provide them with financial stability to bring them the power to contribute to their community.

Project: “Kasik Tutan Elden Para Tutan Ele”

Aim: Strengthening the Role of Women in the Workforce • Guarding women with financial stability to bring her the power to provide for her needs and contribute to her community.

Need: Only 3,839 out of 13,521 labor-force in Trabzon is women •  Women are great cooks in Trabzon. Yet they don’t have access to training, credit, tools and other inputs they need to get benefits of their traditional home-cooking.

Task: Translate women’s competence in local home cooking to commercial opportunities.

Timeline: October 2008 – April 2009

Project Outline:
Phase 1: 20 women will be trained by the instructors of Technical Education Institute and Vocational High School for Girls.Seminars held on:  Entrepreneurship • Legal rights • People and communication skills • Healthy eating habits • Sanitation • Team spirit •
Phase 2:Practical training in the sector. 
Phase 3: Providing jobs or capital to start their own business for at least 50% of the trainees.

Accomplishments so far: Built a website for the organization and project: tkbtrabzon.org
