Brief Description of Organization:
Third Sector Foundation of Turkey (TUSEV) was established in 1993 by Turkey's leading civil society organizations (CSO), and has now grown to a supporting network of over 100 associations and foundations that share a vision of strengthening the legal, fiscal and operational infrastructure of the third (non-profit) sector in Turkey.
Primary Purpose of the Project:
In its Social Investment Initiative project, TUSEV's primary goal was to promote an enabling, legal, fiscal and infrastructural environment for community philanthropy in Turkey. To this end, their aim was to make the Bolu Community Foundation an exemplary and functional pilot community foundation in Turkey.
Needs that will be addressed:
TUSEV's Social Investment Initiative serves civil society organizations (CSOs) and donors in a mutually beneficial sense by seeking to increase the effectiveness and flow of resources to the third sector (19% of civil society organizations report having sufficient financial resources) and by introducing new mechanisms that provide donor services (only 18% of individual giving goes to a CSO) such as community foundations.
