Friends of Funds
Because TPF is committed to creating a community of philanthropists it has established a Friend of Funds to advise on philanthropic efforts. The Friend of Funds also enables Turkish universities and NGOs to create a cost-effective alternative to receiving tax-deductible gifts from U.S. donors and collect an unlimited number of donations. (U.S. individuals cannot, under law, make tax deductible gifts directly to a foreign charity. They can only receive a tax benefit if they give to a U.S. 501(c)(3). All grants from TPF are tax deductible for the original U.S. donor because TPF is a U.S. public charity.)
It is a great way for Universities and NGOs to avoid the hassle of administering a separate charitable entity and reduce administration costs.
Through 'Friend of' Funds Turkish Universities and/or NGOs maintains a connection to donors. Currently, TPF has three Friends of Funds:

'Friends of Funds can be started by Universities/NGOs, friends of Universities/NGOs, or alumni of Universities.
