Turkish Philanthropy Funds accepts donations to the Van Earthquake Relief Fund from individuals, corporations and organizations. 1. How will my donation to the Van Earthquake Relief Fund be used? The Van Earthquake Relief Fund currently supports organizations that are working on long-term healthcare needs, including mental health services, and the needs of children, including children who have lost one or both parents. Additionally, Turkish Philanthropy Funds is committed to supporting organizations that contribute to the longer term recovery and reconstruction effort. Criteria in our selection process is implementation capability, efficiency, financial strength and transparency. We will make announcements about where additional funds will be allocated in the future as we complete our due diligence on potential recipients. 2. Will my donation be tax-deductible? Turkish Philanthropy Funds is a US nonprofit, tax-exempt organization described in Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Your donations are fully tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. Following your donation you will receive an acknowledgment for your donation through the mail. 3. What percentage of my donation will go to administrative costs? 100% of donations will go directly to organizations in Turkey contributing to the relief and recovery efforts. Turkish Philanthropy Funds is absorbing the administrative costs of establishing the Van Earthquake Relief Fund and processing donations. 4. How long will you be accepting donations? As long as individuals, corporations and foundations show interest in supporting the longer term recovery and reconstruction process in Van, Turkish Philanthropy Funds will keep the Van Earthquake Relief Fund open for contributions. The need is great not just in the immediate aftermath of a disaster, but also in the longer term recovery and reconstruction process. 5. Is it possible to make a tax-deductible donation as an anonymous donor? Yes, it is possible to make a tax-deductible donation and credit your donation as anonymous. Please indicate "Anonymous" in the time of your donation. We will require your personal information in order to finalize payment and make your gift tax deductible, but this information will not be disclosed. We understand your privacy concerns and appreciate your support of the relief effort. 6. I would like to set up a collection at my business, workplace, school, club or place of worship for the Van Earthquake Relief Fund. Is this possible? Please contact Senay Ataselim at Senay@tpfund.org with your name, organization, contact information and brief fundraising plan for the Van Earthquake Relief Fund. In the meantime, the most helpful way to assist Turkish Philanthropy Funds at this time is to direct those who are interested in making a contribution to our website. Thank you for your help! 7. Can I volunteer instead of donating? Currently, we need assistance in the office in processing donations. If you can come in, please email info@tpfund.org with the details of your availability. 8. I would like to donate clothing, non-perishable food, toiletries, art or other non-cash items. Is this possible? We appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to help the people of Van, but unfortunately Turkish Philanthropy Funds is not in a position to accept gifts of this nature due to limited resources. 9. I would like to make a donation to be acknowledged in honor of, or on the behalf of someone else. Is this possible?
