Şenay Özdemir

Şenay Özdemir is a Dutch-Turkish journalist and a women's rights advocate. She gained fame as the first Turkish TV host in Europe. SEN, the monthly magazine for the Mediterranean women she founded was selected the best new magazine in 2004.  Currently she works for Women's and Gender Studies and the School for Journalism at the University of Texas. A native of Turkey, she moved to the Netherlands at a young age.  She has written numerous op-eds for leading newspapers including De Volkskrant, NRC Handelsblad and the Los Angeles Times. Her work has been profiled in The New York Times, International Herald Tribune, Foreign Policy and the Forbes. Her first novel The Wax Club was published in 2009 and was touted as the Turkish version of Sex and the City.
