Çağdaş Yaşamı Destekleme Derneği, established in 1989, aims to contribute to the formation of a contemporary society in Turkey through education.
Impact
According to 2009-2010 statistics, illiteracy rate for females is 13.4% while it is 6.5 % for males. In spite of the compulsory education being 8 years in Turkey, the average rate of schooling for girls is 4.96 years. CYDD aims to address this education gap between girls and boys. The organization supports the modernization of society through working to ensure equal opportunity in public education.

Support University Students “Bir Işık da Siz Yakın” The Problem Addressed by the ProjectAmong Turkish youth of 18-24 years, 44.3% cannot continue with higher education; this rate is 14.4% in the European Union. The ratio of university graduates to Turkey’s population is 14.7 whereas in European Union, it is 40. The Goal of the ProjectCYDD aims to support university students to continue with their university education with the BİR IŞIK DA SİZ YAKIN project.
We have so far given, with the help of individual and corporate donors, 49,892 college scholarship and aim to take it to 75,000 in the near future.
At the end of 2010-2011 school year we had 1,832 university graduates
of which 874 were girls. Among this year’s graduates ,there were 279 engineering, 245 business administration, 233 pharmaceutical, 166 teaching, 48 dental, 15 midwifery , 113 law, and 177 civil aviation majors.The Impact of the ProjectCYDD's impact on the lives of thousands of young people is evident in the number of scholarships given: 49,892 college scholarships for a better future.
Below are excerpts from a letter sent to CYDD by one of our university scholars –it shows how lives can really change with a little help.
"To be accepted as a ÇYDD scholar was the best thing that ever happened to me. ÇYDD
supported me both financially and mentally for 8 years. After I finished high school in Akhisar, this year I graduated 2nd from Balıkesir University Physical Education department.I have become an independent individual and I owe it to CYDD.
