Organization's Mission
YGA serves as a catalyst to encourage tomorrow's leaders to deepen, enrich and inspire their collective creativity and unleash their social innovative potential. With that purpose, YGA selects, educates, trains and inspires creative innovative and socially responsible Turkish Leaders.
Impact
Each year YGA selects 15 Turkish and American university students from different campuses in Turkey and the USA. The selected participants undergo two weeks of a Leadership Training Conference/Program in Istanbul, New York, Washington, D.C., Raleigh, N.C., and Figure Eight Island, Wilmington. Speakers who are Leaders in their field from Turkey and USA give seminars, workshops, train and educate the participants on Leadership skills. The participants also meet with Leaders of NGOs.
The International Leadership Conference/Program exposes the participants to cross-cultural exchanges between the countries and gives them new perspectives and ideas on Leadership development skills.

Read -Think - Share The Problem Addressed by the ProjectThere are gaps in the quality of the exposure and knowledge that leaders of the future gain as a result of the more traditional training and education that most receive. To fill the gap of training, exposure and knowledge in expected leadership behavior, a program to educate and train the leaders of tomorrow is needed in the form of a unique ‘life-changing experience’ for youth who will one day become leaders in society. With this perspective, this project was developed by 2005 YGA graduates to empower the youth in disadvantaged public elementary schools in Turkey, and educate the youth in leadership development skills.| Time Line: January 2009 - December 2010 | |
The Goal of the ProjectYGA builds Creative Libraries in disadvantaged public elementary schools to educate the youth to become socially responsible leaders. This project aims to inspire the youth to become socially responsible leaders through creating a medium for them to read, think creatively, write their ideas and share their thoughts with their peers. This project works uniquely in the sense that the students are not only encouraged to read , but to think about what they read and about how they can integrate what they have read into their daily lives. They are encouraged to creatively think about certain topics such as determination, responsibility, honesty and respect. The moderators do not seek to teach the students right and wrong; the moderators simply attain a peaceful and creative atmosphere for the students to have productive discussions. The Impact of the ProjectOn January 10, 2008 a protocol was signed with the Ministry of Education of Turkey to implement the Read-Think-Share program in all disadvantaged public elementary schools in Turkey as a curriculum.
