Raising girl power on Twitter

As the World Economic Forum convenes this week, TPF looks forward to the release of the Gender Gap report. We're particularly eager to see what it says about young girls and school enrollment.

Empowering girls is a key priority for TPF. We want to see that they're able to enroll and succeed in school and go onto pursue professional careers. Unfortunately, for a number of reasons, many girls stop going to school once they hit their teens. For the next several weeks, TPF is launching a campaign to raise awareness around this issue - in order to stop it.

Twitter campaign

The campaign will kick off on Twitter. For the next 10 days, TPF wants to put out 10,000 tweets about empowering young teen girls. For every tweet, a TPF board member has pledged to donate a dollar, up to $10,000 towards programs supporting girls. We'll be using the hashtag #gendergap. We'll also be putting out information about young teen girls, but also seeking information and resources about the topic. Here's how you can participate:

1)     RT @tphilanthropy whenever you see the hashtag #gendergap

2)     Provide us information about resources on empowering young girls by using the hashtag #gendergap

3)     Point us to an expert working on empowering young girls by using the hashtag #gendergap

Twitter chat

On Tuesday, January 31 at 2PM EST and 9PM IST, we'll host a Twitter chat about empowering young girls. Read more.
