Organization's Mission
The mission of TOG is:
- To transform the energy of young people toward social benefit by encouraging young people for developing and realizing various projects of their own,
- To contribute to the formation of a youth with social awareness and self-esteem, and
- To enhance democratic participation of young people through projects for young people by young people.
Impact
The need for active participation of youth into the overall society is an urgent need for a fast growing country like Turkey with such a huge young population. TOG with over 17,000 volunteers works to motivate young people ages between 17 and 25 to implement their own community projects under the umbrella of youth organizations that are founded by young community volunteers mostly in universities of Turkey as student clubs.

Democracy and Our Rights Project The Problem Addressed by the ProjectAccording to the Commission of the European Communities' Turkey 2006-Progress Report, Turkey has made drastic moves in the field of human rights, signed legal actions and increased the number of watchdog committees which monitor rights violations and the problems in implementation. Despite legal actions and improvement the general public in Turkey needs to be actively demanding change in implementation for the enforcement of the laws.| Time Line: January 2009 - December 2009 | |
The Goal of the ProjectOverall objective of the project is to raise sensitivity and awareness and educate on human right issues, justice mechanisms, and cultural rights of various culture, faith and gender groups. The project aims to transform the behavior and attitude of youth about human rights and democracy by devising innovative, and non-didactic methods.The Impact of the ProjectA traines training program and a volunteers training program are developed and implemented. Additionally, a board game is designed to raise awareness on the issue while entertaining. The training program will become part of TOG's regular educational program and the board game will serve as an educational tool for the TOG volunteers to educate 12 to 15 year-olds. The project takes place all around Turkey.
