AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, non-profit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.
AFS believes that giving young people the opportunity to understand different people and cultures is one of the keys to creating a better world.
Impact
AFS is the world's first and most diverse student exchange program. Since the start of AFS programs in Turkey in 1952, AFS Turkey has hosted around 4,500 students and sent around 5,000 students abroad.

And even a small amount of funds are enough to change one person’s life, hence contributing to our mission of a peaceful World. The Goal of the ProjectThe program aims to equip 15-18 years old high school students with intercultural competences and raise next generations that are culturally more tolerant and open. The program works to provide intercultural learning opportunities to help young people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.The Impact of the ProjectThis project ultimately will contribute to world peace. Currently operating in 55 countries, AFS believes that carefully selected students undertaking an extended stay in a foreign country and culture will not only learn another language, but also develop international understanding and an appreciation of global interdependence.
