Organization's Mission
Sabanci University is a pioneering model educational base in a local and international context, in continuous interaction with the society, nourished by research and critical inquiry. Specifically, SU’s mission is to:
- Develop competent and confident individuals, enriched with the ability to reflect critically and independently, combined with a strong sense of social responsibility;
- Contribute to the development of science and technology;
- Disseminate the knowledge created to the benefit of the community.
Impact
Since its establishment in 1999, Sabanci University serves a community of about 3,500 students under three main faculties: the Faculty of Natural Sciences & Engineering, the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences and the Faculty of Management.
Even though SU is a young university, its alumni body has demonstrated important successes: within the first year of their graduation, SU alumni’s placement rate is 88% of which 55% pertains to professional, 26% to academic placements in esteemed institutions world-wide. The remaining percent engage in freelance or entrepreunurial activities.
SU positions itself to be one of the most innovative and research-oriented universities in Turkey. Besides its main educational mission, applied and strategic research has been one of the fastest developing endeavors since its foundation. Currently many research grants and contracts are active at SU and they have reached over 50 million USD.

The Goal of the ProjectExtensive scholarships have always been a priority of Sabancı University to ensure that successful and needy students take advantage of the educational opportunities offered at SU. Currently, about 30% of its students have received some kind of merit or need-based scholarship. In order to sustain this continuous support to these successful bright students of Turkey, gifts of all kinds are welcome:
Contribute to the Endowed SU Scholarship Fund: Hundreds of students in financial need receive support from this fund every year. You can also play a part in their success by making a gift to the fund. Supporting these students complete their higher education goals will enable them to continue on to much bigger successes.
SABANCI UNIVERSITY USA ALUMNI SCHOLARSHIP: Wouldn't you want to help support a successful, yet financially needy student? This opportunity, for Sabanci University Alumni located in the United States, does just that! This need- and merit-based scholarship supports those students who have a proven academic record, yet carry a financial burden, interfering them from concentrating on their studies. The cost of such a scholarship for one academic year is $1,620. * Essential needs such as educational materials, food and transportation for a student alters the quality of his/her overall academic performance as they do not have the burden of financial worries, allowing them to concentrate on their studies.
* Scholarship beneficiaries often give back to the institution by supporting another fellow SU student through their gifts to the SU Scholarship Fund.
Furthermore, endowing a full-scholarship ensures the continuity of these impacts in deeper ways.
